So I think after listening to this song and reading the lyrics, you will have no trouble seeing it fit into the Collector world.  Being surrounded by misdeeds playing the perfect part and always on the run.

"There's something sinister in place
It leaves me restless with no peace..."

Enjoy Perfect Day by The Constellations!

This has always been one of my favorite songs.  Due to Lily's physical description in the book, and from this song, our main heroine wasn't always Lily.  I had started off calling her Raven.  It was only halfway through writing that I felt as though she needed a more worldly, old fashioned name.  So Raven became Liliana, but she is still my blackbird in every way.

Happy Wednesday all!

The site is back up and running, yay! This is also a new song for me. I love the music as much as I love the lyrics. It has been very inspirational as I write some pivotal scenes in Book Two.

I am posting the extended version which is when the song ends and there is a bit of a poem at the end. I especially love this part of the poem, which is why the song made the Collector cut:

"Of all the comrades that ever I had
They are sorry for
my going away
And all the sweethearts that ever I had
They would wish me
one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and
you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call
Good night and joy be
with you all"

So this song, which is relatively newer to my horde of music, has become one of my favorites.  For those of you reading the book, I think you'll understand how the song could relate to Liliana's curse of "an empathic nature" Lost love, forbidden love, inappropriate love, unappreciated love, to live for 100 years you have to be able to see it in others with your eyes closed.  See it in their pain or happiness.  It's the ultimate irony in the book that Liliana, just like a human, can't see these feelings as they are happening to her..  It's always easier to be on the outside looking in.

Also this is an awesome video!

So I know I said yesterday we were getting back into the book soundtrack full blast, which was my complete intent.  That was until I spent the last ten hours obsessively listening to this song.  It is AWESOME, the theme song of one of my new favorite shows on TV Lost Girl (on SyFy Tuesday, check it out!!),  and now totally complete.

Listen, rock out, have a good morning.  Repeat.

I think I love you, can I kill you some more...

Ok, after a few celebratory distractions I wanted to get back to the original point of this blog which was songs that I felt accurately portrayed the overall feeling of The Sin Collector.
This is one of my favorites.  It's so hard to run into people you haven't seen in a matter of weeks or months.  Imagine seeing someone again after hundreds of years!  Where would you even begin to go back?  Or would you just start again?

We Are The City- My Old Friend

A kick ass song I wanted to share with all you guys.  We will get back to the book soundtrack, but I wanted another get off your butt and dance post in honor of today's awesome book release!

In honor of my fixed computer, and my book finally being ready for public viewing (I hope) here is a great song to make everyone feel as awesome as I do right now!

For starters, Iron & Wine is just an all around awesome band.  They have dedicated many a song to movie soundtracks.  I don't think this one has ever been used however. I loved that the girl in the story goes through several different identities throughout the song.

Enjoy.

Iron & Wine- Arms of a Thief

_ This is possibly the most melancholy song I will ever post here.  As always though there is a distinct reasoning behind it.  The lyrics speak heavily of how hard it is to grow up alone.  Within my story Liliana really only has one person in her life, and even he is forced to leave her.  Twenty may seem like such an adult age to most people, but I can assure you it isn’t.  At 20 you are expected to have a direction in life, a path to grow from, but when there is really no one there to nurture you, that growth is severely stunted and you have to teach yourself how life works, both the good and the bad.

So here is, I Taught Myself How To Grow by Ryan Adams
