"Life is like a novel.  This novel is incredibly long, and detailed (if you’re lucky).  Slowly the mass of pages move from your right hand to your left.  Mostly the book is unexciting.  Yet, you’ll find some of the pages highlighted, notes written in the margin.

The day you learned to ride a bike, the first time you baked cookies without your moms help, the name of your goldfish, the first time you were ever left home alone, or snuck out of your house.

Those moments glow.

Other pages, well other pages are bookmarked. Specifically noted as a point in your story when you were changed beyond a mere highlight.  Events that brought color and warmth, progression and strength to your tale.

A marriage, a baby, a new job, anything that made you stop what you were doing and say to yourself, “THIS is a day that will be infinite to me.”

Then there are the dark bookmarks.

The ones that stick out from the pages of your life like razorblades.  The moments when you are irreparably altered, and unable to control your course.

The moment your story turns into a tragedy.

These bookmarks can often times split the tale in half altogether.  There is the version of your life before, and the part that came after.  Try as you might, no binding can put the two halves together again.

The new story is not for others to read, or even share. Maybe you were sick; maybe the love of your life died.  Maybe you grieved your Mother or your Father. Or you lost the child you wanted more than life itself.

Perhaps one day you tried to make a list of everything in the world that made you smile, and sat staring at a blank page until it was so late only you and the stars were up.

Yet despite it all, our stories go on.  They intersect like highways.  It is our job to keep going, to keep reading.  Take the pages of our lives that are bloody, ripped, covered in tears, and somehow find hope and meaning.  To take the broken mangled second half of your book and try to live again.

It’s not easy, and I’ll be honest, I don’t think it’s always possible.

There is no such thing as the perfect legend, the perfect story.

Yet every day we strive for it.

I mean…What other choice do we have?"

I have been trying to plan free promotions over the next few months for my novel The Sin Collector.  As I was staring at my calendar there was one date that stuck out.

February 20th, was my Grandma’s birthday.  She gave me the gift of books when I was little.  Since she has passed, I can’t give her anything this February 20th, but I can give a bit of her legacy to you, the magic of a good book.

SO. My book will be 100% free Monday February 20th on Amazon.

I hope you get a chance to pick it up, and  that you like it.

A great writer I met through GoodReads runs a blog doing reviews and author interviews.

She interviewed me last week and the interview just went live to her site this morning.  After reading the interview snoop around her blog, it's great!

Jessica Fortunato Author Interview

“People disappear when they die. Their voice, their laughter, the warmth of their breath. Their flesh. Eventually their bones. All living memory of them ceases. This is both dreadful and natural. Yet for some there is an exception to this annihilation. For in the books they write they continue to exist. We can rediscover them. Their humor, their tone of voice, their moods. Through the written word they can anger you or make you happy. They can comfort you. They can perplex you. They can alter you. All this, even though they are dead. Like flies in amber, like corpses frozen in the ice, that which according to the laws of nature should pass away is, by the miracle of ink on paper, preserved. It is a kind of magic.”

Last night I received my first two book reviews, both from awesome members of the  GoodReads community.

Both reviews were amazing, and I cannot tell you all THANK YOU enough. Not just because they were good reviews, but that anyone anywhere is taking time out of their busy lives to read/review my book. I don't expect every review to be positive, but I have to say that because of you two, I had the best Valentines day of my life!

I mean it when I say I love you guys for doing that. I hope everyone out there had a great Valentines Day!

So here are links to my first two reviews....I may frame them  :)   :

After posting the previous entry, a friend of the family, John Duvall asked if he could try and help fix my computer.  He made no promises and rushed here after working all day, took it home, and 3 hours later it is good as new!!!  I cannot express how relieved I am, and so I have an announcement.

I've decided to drop the book this week!  It will not have the beautiful cover art yet, that still won't be until March, but I hope that despite the temporary simple design, that everyone will buy the book and love it!

Thanks again to everyone who has done so very much to help me see this through, I love you all!!!

I'm sad to report that the reason the site/twitter hasn't been updated recently is due to the untimely demise of my one and only computer.  I hope that within the coming months I am still able to publish The Sin Collector, because it's still very important to me to be able to share it with you.  I also hope that within the coming months writing can begin again on the second book in the trilogy, The Sin Collector: Sacrifice.

I am unable to update the soundtrack page as well, which stinks because I loved sharing all that music with you and giving you that glimpse into Liliana.

Thank you to everyone who supported me so far in reading the book and editing.  Your support means everything.

I miss talking to you all every day on Twitter!

Much Love
